Four choices the director made in The Sound of Music

The director of The Sound of Music, Robert Wise, used 4 strategies to develop as great movie. First, Robert introduced the setting of the film by some camera techniques such as long shots and left-to-right pan. Long shot with slow movement of left-to-right pan through the clouds and cross the valleys and Alps mountains illustrates Austria where the setting of The Sound of Music clearly, beautifully and peacefully. After showing the background of the story, the main character, Maria, comes out happily. Therefore, people can recognize that characters are in peaceful life at the beginning of the movie. Clear in setting up the background that the director made as a choice gives viewers the feeling of peace and joy. Also, director did well choose on the casting. All of the characters in the movie are well matched. Maria, who is the main character of the film, was acted by Julia Andrews. Julia was perfectly fit in the character that she was delightful and encouraging. Also the children of the captain Von Trapp are all vivified their characters with bright and amiable characteristics. Another choice that Robert made was inserting the intermission that shows the views of Austria middle of the movie. It tells that the story is entering another part of movie. The story advances in the conflicts. The captain Von Trapp’s patriotism caused the hostility from betrayers so he pressed by them. Also, Maria confused in love that is not allowed to nun. The intermission refreshes the viewers as well. Last decision that Robert made is great sound track. This movie has little difference than other movies. The Sound of Music is like a musical so that all of the main characters in the movie at least sing once in whole movie. Those songs are pretty and nice. Also the background songs are all fitted in to the specific situations. Those decisions made the movie to be outstanding and to be well known by people around the whole world.
