The apparent theme of Pan's Labyrinth is mysterious and living in-between a world of reality and another full of mystical creatures. The apparent theme of this movie is mysterious. Throught the enitre film an evil, creepy sensation is felt from the director's choices which add to the cinematography and production of this classic film.

1. From the introduction of this movie, the viewer instantly knows that this is a dark and mysterious film. The audio sets the mood with its low tones and finially ends with a high pitched screaming/yelling noise which leads to the start of the first scene.

It was very apparent from the start of the film the way scenes were filmed and how they corresponded to the message portrayed. For example in one of the very first scenes where Spartacus is working as a slave, there is a long shot that shows a vast mountian side with clusters of slaves taking over the entire side.
