first 25 shots of Iwai Shunji's Picnic

the film starts out with a long shot of a dark street. The next six shots show who is in the car. A couple is at the back seat in formal clothes (mid shot), and a young girl in black clothes is in the front seat(close up). Th… Continue

4 choices the director made in Amelie

color
Jeunet uses the colors green and red with yellow lighting throughout the film. This gives it a very warm, bright, and a somewhat childlike feeling.

Lighting1:
Throughout the whole film, Constance (Ingrid Bergman) is lit by a soft light with low contrast on her face and an edge lighting. This makes her face seem to shine and pretty. This lighting also fits the character, who is in love with John(Gregory Peck) and helps him find his memory.

(false) Foreshadowing:
On the first night John and Constance stay at Dr.Alexander(Michael Chekhov)'s house, John loses a sense of himself after seeing the white shaving foam and goes downstairs to Dr. Ale… Continue

Good! Way to be convincing about the color argument. Since its actually part of the plot of this film, it ties the theme together nicely. Good examination of the shot sequence with the gopher. nanananananana. 10/10

As i have found, Alfred Hitchcock does not seem to have a particular style—cinematography wise. This is most likely because his films are made to look so natural that we do not notice it. Also, his way of presenting the actions and events has been...

Here's a great article about Wes Anderson's use of music in his films, with examples from YouTube. Perfectly matching a song with a scene is nothing new (see: Scorsese, Martin), but Wes Anderson takes the movie soundtrack to new levels of artistr...
