Run Lola Run movie analysis

Run Lola Run is probably the most techno music based movie I have ever watched and that works well with advancing the theme. The theme ultimately is the pressure of time, fate vs free will and alternate futures. It’s basically 3 stories that start at the same inciting incident. Doing just a scene of the movie is too vague, and doesn’t do the movie enough justice. But I think there is one scene that I can talk about reflects clearly on the theme of this movie.

Everything that results is a direct… Continue

Film Analysis-Hero "英雄"

Hero is a Chinese martial arts/epic battle film directed by Zhang Yimou who is perceived to be the Spielberg of the East. The themes of this movie are self-sacrifice for the greater good, the many faces of truth and the limit of human ambition. I guess the main difference between most western movies and Asian movies is that the Asian audience will not be satisfied with clichés and simple plotlines. And very rare western movies get as Baroque or colorful as this one. The eight choices that the di… Continue

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark

After watching Blade Runner, I couldn't get enough of Harrison Ford, so I had to chose Indiana Jones and because I had never seen this movie before. Indiana Jones was written partially by George Lucas and directed by Steven Spielberg, both well known for many great movies. Needless to say, this movie was intended to entertain audiences much like Star Wars, but unlike Star Wars, there is actually some worthwhile scenes to talk about.

1. The first choice that the director made was to have the Par… Continue

Blade Runner Film Analysis

Blade Runner by Ridley Scott is a science fiction movie about over abused androids that revolt against their makers and Blade Runners, policemen who are supposed to be hunting them down. Well since everybody says that the opening scene can tell the whole plot of the story before we even see the main character, and most of the interesting shots appear in that first couple of minutes as well.

Let’s start with the music. For people accustomed to watching science fiction, they would be accustomed t… Continue

Good! Way to be convincing about the color argument. Since its actually part of the plot of this film, it ties the theme together nicely. Good examination of the shot sequence with the gopher. nanananananana. 10/10

Good comments about the sound. Did you notice any ways in which unexpected sounds were used to call attention to the theme that you describe? Great observation about the colors of the town vs. Phil's colors. How does taht change as the movie goes ...

Good observations about colors and lighting. Good observation about sound, but be specific about the foley. Almost every sound is foleyed. How did Ramis use it? Good overall review Diana, and you probably have a harder task than most, as Ramis is...

As i have found, Alfred Hitchcock does not seem to have a particular style—cinematography wise. This is most likely because his films are made to look so natural that we do not notice it. Also, his way of presenting the actions and events has been...
